If you look at the painting on the right you'll already get a good idea of what this website is about:

cluster headache.

This website is designed to help you understand what cluster headache is from a neurobiological/neurophysiological perspective. Don't worry, I won't confuse you with complicated medical terminology. Instead, I'll explain everything you need to know in order to get a good understanding of cluster headache in a digestable step-by-step manner. For this purpose, I'll provide you with the required background knowledge in cell biology, neurophysiology and anatomy. Once we've worked our way through these basics, we'll take things one step further and look at cluster headache specifically.

Please note, however, that the scientific world hasn't come up with a holistic model to explain cluster headache yet. If you think of cluster headache as a huge jigsaw puzzle, we do already posses a great deal of the required pieces, but we don't know how to fit them together yet. Therefore, we can only look at the individual pieces we have so far and try to come up with a sound hypothesis. You might be asking yourself now: Why even bother with all those boring facts? Well, knowing your enemy can be a good coping strategy when having to deal with being afflicted with cluster headache. Also, it can help to demystify the condition and make it appear less "scary".

Even though, originally, I've designed this website primarily for young people with cluster headache, I'd like to point out that everyone's welcome here. It doesn't matter how old you are, whether you're a sufferer, supporter, friend, relative or just interested.

Please bear with me while I'm trying to get it all translated asap. :) )
